Oct. 17, 2026: Building Every Area Around Jesus

BIG IDEA: “A truly sent life is built around the cornerstone of the person of Jesus Christ.”

MEMORY VERSE FOR THE WEEK:
1 Peter 2:6  “For it stands in Scripture: ‘Behold, I am laying in Zion a stone, a cornerstone chosen and precious, and whoever believes in him will not be put to shame.’”

Psalm 62:2  
“He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress; I shall not be greatly shaken.”

Colossians 1:17-18
“And he is before all things, and in him all things hold together. And he is the head of the body, the church. He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in everything he might be preeminent.”

The sermon asks a crucial question: “If you are a follower of Christ, is Jesus the cornerstone of every aspect of your life?” It is easy to say Jesus is Lord in general while keeping certain areas for ourselves. But a cornerstone is not partial. Everything is built around it. If Jesus is the cornerstone, then our marriages, dating lives, sexuality, finances, friendships, social media, businesses, thought lives, and ministries must all align with Him.

Psalm 62 says, “He alone is my rock and my salvation.” Not Jesus plus personal control. Not Jesus plus public approval. Not Jesus plus financial security. He alone is the rock. When Jesus is central, life may still be difficult, but it will not be without a foundation. When He holds the center, everything else finds its proper place.

The question is not merely, “Do I believe in Jesus?” The deeper question is, “Is my life built around Him?” A truly sent life is not built around self. It is not built around comfort, preference, or convenience. A truly sent life is built around the cornerstone of Jesus Christ.

Action Step: Choose one area of your life that needs to be realigned with Jesus. Make one specific change today that reflects His lordship in that area.
