Sept. 8, 2026: Holy Beyond Imagination

This week’s BIG IDEA:   7 truths we need to be SENT and not STUCK.  Death is certain. God is in charge. He is holy. We are broken. God offers grace. God speaks. God sends.

Isaiah 6:3-4
“And one called to another and said: “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord of hosts; the whole earth is full of his glory!” And the foundations of the thresholds shook at the voice of him who called, and the house was filled with smoke.”

Exodus 15:11
“Who is like you, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like you, majestic in holiness, awesome in glorious deeds, doing wonders?”

Revelation 4:8
“And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and within, and day and night they never cease to say, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!”

The seraphim could not look upon God directly. They covered their eyes. These were beings of fire, created for the singular purpose of declaring God's holiness, and even they were overwhelmed by His presence.

The word "holy" appears three times in succession, the only attribute of God in all of Scripture given this kind of triple emphasis. It appears in Isaiah's vision and again in John's vision in Revelation, spanning centuries and testaments.

Exodus 15:11 asks the question that has no rival answer: Who is like the Lord, majestic in holiness? The honest answer is no one. Nothing. Let that settle in you today.  The One that we follow and the One that we worship has NO RIVAL.  No one even comes close.

Personal Reflection:
When you think about God, do you primarily think of Him as loving, as powerful, or as holy? How does His holiness change the way you approach Him in prayer and in daily life?

Practical Application:
Spend five minutes in silence before your prayer time today. Do not rush into requests. Simply acknowledge who God is before you say anything else. Let holiness come before petition.
