Big Idea: God desires for us to live SENT with our GREATER PURPOSE, while the world desires for us to be STUCK on ourselves.

Religion Without Relationship

Read: Isaiah 1

Key Verse:
“Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.”— Isaiah 1:18

Devotional:
Isaiah opens like a huge warning label from God. Judah is not just struggling politically or culturally — they are spiritually stuck. God says, “Children have I reared and brought up, but they have rebelled against me.”

The problem was not that they had no religion. They had sacrifices, festivals, prayers, offerings, and assemblies. But God says He is tired of it because their hearts are far from Him. They were practicing religion without a heart for relationship with God.

They wanted to live however they wanted, then use religious activity to cover it up. But God was not looking for empty ritual. He wanted repentance. He wanted their hearts.

This is the danger for us too. We can attend church, sing songs, serve, give, post Bible verses, and still be stuck on ourselves. God does not just want our talk. He wants our hearts.

But Isaiah 1 is not only a warning — it is an invitation.

God says, “Come now, let us reason together.” In other words: “Please stop. Think about where this road is taking you. Your sin has stained you, but I can make you clean.”

Sin is like scarlet. It is deep. It is permanent by human effort. But God can make us white as snow.

That is the good news.

You are not too stained for God to cleanse. You are not too stuck for God to send.
