Monday, Nov. 2, 2026: When the Valley Finds You

BIG IDEA
Even in the Valley, God Offers us a Greater Vision.

MEMORY VERSE
Psalm 23:2 “He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters.”

Psalm 23:1-4 “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.”

No one chooses the valley. It arrives uninvited, often when life seems most promising. David wrote Psalm 23 while running for his life from a king who wanted him dead — a man who had done nothing to deserve such suffering. Yet David did not write a psalm of despair. He wrote of a Shepherd who leads, restores, and accompanies. The valley in Psalm 23 is described as deep darkness, not necessarily death itself, but a shadow of it. Notice that David does not say God removes the valley. He says God walks through it with him.

Today, the question is not whether you will face a valley. The question is whether you will recognize the Shepherd when you find yourself in one. God's presence does not evaporate when the terrain turns dark. It becomes more essential, more visible, and more personal than ever before.

Reflection:
Where are you right now — entering a valley, walking through one, or emerging from one? How have you experienced God's presence in that place?

Practical Application:
Write down one specific way God has been present with you during a difficult season, even if that presence felt quiet or subtle at the time.
