Big Idea: God desires for us to live SENT with our GREATER PURPOSE, while the world desires for us to be STUCK on ourselves.

From Stuck to Sent

Read: Review Isaiah 1-5

Key Verse:  “Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord.” — Isaiah 1:18

Devotional:
Isaiah 1–5 is God’s warning label.

It is a warning to Judah, but it is also a warning to us. The Bible — and all of life — centers around one question: What will our relationship with God be?

Will we submit to Him and walk with Him? Or will we be our own boss and do our own thing?

There are two options:
You can be SENT. Or you can be STUCK.

Judah was stuck. They were stuck in religion without relationship. They were stuck valuing the work of man above the work of God. They were stuck making themselves their own moral standard and celebrating sin.

They had forgotten God. Forsaken God. Rebelled against God. And yet God still said, “Come.” That is the mercy of God.

God does not expose our sin to shame us. He exposes our sin to save us. He warns us because He loves us. He calls us to repent because He wants us free.

Isaiah’s name means, “The Lord has saved.” That is the message behind the warning. Salvation is found only in God.

Not in tradition.
Not in culture.
Not in good works.
Not in religion.
Not in success.
Not in comfort.
Not in “my truth.”

Only in God.

Isaiah 1–5 asks us to stop and reason. Look at the road you are on. If you stay stuck in yourself, that road leads to judgment. But if you turn to God, He can cleanse what you cannot clean. He can make scarlet sin white as snow. He can turn religious motion into real relationship. He can turn pride into surrender. He can turn moral confusion into truth. He can turn stuck people into sent people.

The hope for Judah was receiving the good news and turning to God.
The hope for America is receiving the good news and turning to God.
The hope for you is receiving the good news and turning to God.

So take the saving hand of Christ. Recommit to Christ’s plan above your own. Surrender to be sent.

• What has God been warning me about this week?
• What would it look like for me to live SENT with my greater purpose?
