Oct. 29, 2026: God Meets Us Where We Are
BIG IDEA: A SENT LIFE is driven by the POWER and the COMPASSION of our LOVING GOD.
VERSE OF THE WEEK Isaiah 30:15 “This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength”
Isaiah 30:19-21
“For a people shall dwell in Zion, in Jerusalem; you shall weep no more. He will surely be gracious to you at the sound of your cry. As soon as he hears it, he answers you. And though the Lord give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, yet your Teacher will not hide himself anymore, but your eyes shall see your Teacher. And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” when you turn to the right or when you turn to the left.”
Psalm 139:1-12
“O LORD, you have searched me and known me! You know when I sit down and when I rise up; you discern my thoughts from afar. You search out my path and my lying down and are acquainted with all my ways. Even before a word is on my tongue, behold, O LORD, you know it altogether. You hem me in, behind and before, and lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is high; I cannot attain it. Where shall I go from your Spirit? Or where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me. If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me, and the light about me be night,” even the darkness is not dark to you; the night is bright as the day, for darkness is as light with you.”
Isaiah 30:21 gives us a beautiful and personal picture of God’s grace: “And your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it.’”
Why is the voice behind them? Because they had turned their backs on God. They had walked away. They had gone their own direction. They had run to Egypt, trusted in human strength, rejected God’s counsel, and resisted His correction.
And yet God was still speaking.
That is grace.
God does not only speak when we are facing the right direction. He does not only pursue us when we have made all the right decisions. He meets us where we are, even if where we are is the result of stubbornness, fear, pride, or unbelief.
Psalm 139 reminds us that there is no place we can go where God is not present. Even if we have turned from Him, He is near enough to call us back. His voice may come from behind because we have been walking the wrong way, but His voice is still loving, still clear, and still full of direction.
“This is the way, walk in it.”
Reflection Question:
Is there an area of your life where you have turned away from God, but you can still sense Him calling you back?
Practical Application:
Take a few minutes today to honestly name where you are spiritually. Do not sugarcoat it. Then pray, “God, meet me here and show me the way forward.” Write down one step of obedience you believe He is calling you to take.
