Oct. 26, 2026: Faith That Moves From Hearing to Doing Copy

BIG IDEA:  A SENT LIFE is driven by the POWER and the COMPASSION of our LOVING GOD.

VERSE OF THE WEEK Isaiah 30:15   “This is what the Sovereign LORD, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength”

Isaiah 30:1-5
“'Ah, stubborn children,” declares the LORD, “who carry out a plan, but not mine, and who make an alliance, but not of my Spirit, that they may add sin to sin; who set out to go down to Egypt, without asking for my direction, to take refuge in the protection of Pharaoh and to seek shelter in the shadow of Egypt! Therefore shall the protection of Pharaoh turn to your shame, and the shelter in the shadow of Egypt to your humiliation. For though his officials are at Zoan and his envoys reach Hanes, everyone comes to shame through a people that cannot profit them, that brings neither help nor profit, but shame and disgrace.'”

Isaiah 31:1-3
“Woe to those who go down to Egypt for help and rely on horses, who trust in chariots because they are many and in horsemen because they are very strong, but do not look to the Holy One of Israel or consult the LORD! And yet he is wise and brings disaster; he does not call back his words, but will arise against the house of the evildoers and against the helpers of those who work iniquity. The Egyptians are man, and not God, and their horses are flesh, and not spirit. When the LORD stretches out his hand, the helper will stumble, and he who is helped will fall, and they will all perish together.”

The nation of Judah had a habit that is painfully familiar. When pressure mounted, they reached for what they could see, touch, and negotiate with rather than turning to the God who had already proven Himself faithful. Egypt represented military strength, political alliance, and a sense of control. But God called it what it was: stubbornness.

We do the same thing. We reach for bank accounts, relationships, our own intellect, our plans, our abilities, or the approval of others before we ever drop to our knees. The chariots and horses of our age are different in form but identical in function. They are substitutes for God.
The question worth sitting with today is not whether you believe in God, but whether you are actually trusting Him with the specific weight you are carrying right now. Are you distributing that weight across multiple sources of security, or are you placing it fully on Him?

Reflection Question:
What is your “Egypt” right now, the thing you are running to instead of running to God first?

Practical Application:
Write down the top three sources you instinctively turn to when life feels out of control. Beside each one, honestly assess whether that source has the power to truly save you in the way only God can.
