Aug. 14, 2026: 100 PERCENT CERTAINTY

BIG IDEA: REPENTANCE is the ULTIMATE SAVING TRANSACTION of the HUMAN SOUL.

Reading:
1 John 5:13 
“I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.”

Matthew 4:17
“From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, 'Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.'”

Devotional:
The sermon that launched the entire earthly ministry of Jesus began with a single word: repent.

Not perform. Not achieve. Not maintain. Repent. And the apostle John, writing near the end of his life, declared that the purpose of his letter was so that those who believe in the name of the Son of God would know that they have eternal life. Not hope. Not guess. Know.
 
These two passages together form the foundation of assurance. Repentance is not a one-time event that earns your way in. It is the ongoing posture of a soul that has genuinely transferred trust from its own way to God's way.

That posture produces certainty. That certainty is not arrogance. It is the fruit of a transaction that God Himself designed, offered, and completed through Jesus Christ.

Reflection:
If someone asked you today what your odds of heaven are, what would you say and why?

Practical Application:
If you have never made a definitive decision to believe in Jesus and repent of living for yourself, today is the day to do that. If you have, spend time today thanking God specifically for the certainty He has given you, and consider who in your life needs to hear about it.
